The Ori were, the Ori are and the Ori shall be. From the dark stars they came ere man was born. Unseen, they descended to primal Earth, which they called Kobol and which is also known by the names Gaia, Jorda, Eorðe, Terra, Jörd, Pamint, Id-Dinja, Erde, Jørðin, Eer, Aarde, Ääd, Ierde, Yird, Jorden, Maa, Toka, Zeme, Föld, Zemlja, Dedamizha and others. Here They watched with curiosity as man evolved. They saw that within the minds of this new creature was planted the seed of knowledge and that this seed could be sowed bringing enlightenment to this creature who called itself man. The seed within them slept and the Ori knew They could coax its awakening.
In Their might the Ori built a great city which They called Radcliffe. Within it They built Their high temple and within the temple They placed the Flames of Enlightenment. Outside the entrance of the high temple They created a savage garden and within this They placed the Tree of Life. Then They left Their great city and spread out into the world. As They wandered They whispered in the ears of man and woman to come to the city They had erected. Then the Ori returned to Their hallowed city and waited within the Flames of Enlightenment.
Those the Ori whispered too left their homes and journeyed to the great city of Radcliffe. For many the journey was arduous and wrought with danger but the Ori guided them and sheltered them from harm. When they reached the city gates they were awestruck by its splendor and glory yet curious as man always is. Finding the gates open they entered the city and marvelled as they wandered about it.
Within it they found the savage garden and beheld the great Tree of Life. The Ori whispered unto them "Aye, eat of this fruit." So the people took of the Tree and became drunken on its fruit and there they rested until the Ori came and whispered unto them again. "Rise and enter the temple beyond the garden and seek out the Holy and Eternal Flame within."
Aroused by the whispered voices in their head the men and women who had entered the city and taken of the Tree of Life stood up and entered the great temple. They found the Flames of Enlightenment of which the Ori spoke and were warmed by it's radiance. Around it they sat and admired its beauty. Then out of it stepped three figures, two in the form of man and one in the form of woman. These figures were the Ori, who had taken the form of those who had gathered around them, so that the gathered might better relate to them.
The figures spoke to those who had gathered and revealed themselves to be Doci and that they spoke for the Ori. They explained that the Ori had called them here to live in the city the Ori had built. Here those that had come would be raised by the Ori out of the darkness of ignorance. The Doci would teach them all they need know that they may return to their homelands and spread the light the Ori would impart on them.
The Doci bade the gathered to come forward closer to the Holy Flames and to not fear for the flames would not burn them. The gathered did as they were instructed and relished the warmth they felt but it did not burn as the Doci had said. Then the Doci stood outside the circle of the gathered and each stood an equal distance apart. They raised their arms as if to form a triangle around the gathered and stared into the Holy Flames.
The Flames of Enlightenment flared and bathed the gathered in a brilliant light. When it was over the gathered had changed. "Your bodies have been purified and freed of defect," said the Doci of Divinari. "Your minds have been opened to the knowledge of the universe," said the Doci of Oblivous. "You have been awakened and are now Children of the Ori" said the Doci of Stryse. "Hallowed are the Children of the Ori," spoke the Doci of Divnari. "Hallowed are we. Hallowed are the Ori," responded the gathered.
So mankind came to live amongst the Ori who had taken the form of their disciples that they would better relate to them and walked the city as their Doci. The Doci told them of the sacred nature of the stardust, from which they were all made. Through their Doci, the Ori taught them to honor all matter as its essence is the spirit of the Divine. They learnt to choose actions guided by the teachings of the Ori and to realize the effect of their actions upon all. The Ori bade them to honor all the wonders that were the Universe and to honor the freedom of all that dwelt within it. The gathered were happy in the great city of Radcliffe and gave thanks to the Ori for guiding them here.
The Doci taught that by walking their own unique Path of Origin, that would lead them to the Great Path of Enlightenment and how those who found the Great Path could ascend and come to be like the Ori. The Doci taught the gathered that there are many paths that will lead to the Great Path and that all the many paths were the Path of Origin. The Doci taught them that any path could be travelled, but that each had a personal destiny that would guide them to the one that was correct for them. For they must each make their own journey to reach the Great Path.
The Doci taught the gathered that their race consisted of twelve tribes and each tribe was unique and brought strength to the whole of their race. The Doci taught them of which tribe they each belonged and the names of their tribes which were Aeron, Tauron, Geminon, Canceron, Leonis, Virgon, Libris, Scorpia, Sagittaron, Caprica, Aquaria, and Picon. The Doci taught that there were twelve stages of evolution mankind would undergo as a species and that each individual's growth would advance them all.
The Doci taught that each of them would live, evolve, die, reflect and then be reborn to begin the cycle anew. The Doci taught that each cylce was a new journey along the Path of Origin and that each cycle would prepare them for their journey along the Great Path.
The gathered learned that there were many beings like them and that some, such as the dragons who inhabited their world before them, had already completed their journeys along Path of Origin and walked along the Great Path. The gathered learned they shared their world with all manner of spirits and beings, that some resided in coporeal bodies like that of man, and that these beings were on their own journeys toward enlightenment. They learned that some of the spirits would, like the Ori, guide them in their own journeys. But the Doci warned them that there were also spirits that would tempt them to stray from the Path.
So man lived in the City of Radcliffe and learned from the Doci for three years. On the third anniversary of their awakening the gathered were called by the Doci to come to the great temple and before the Flames of Enlightenment. So they went and so they gathered.
The Doci of Stryse came forwad and spoke to the gathered and said unto them "It is time for you to return to your homes and tell others what you have seen and learned. They too must walk their Path of Origin."
The Doci of Divinari stepped forward and spoke to the gathered and said unto them "By the Will of the Ori you have been imparted with great knowledge to build your world and raise your people out of the darkness of ignorance."
The Doci of Oblivous came forward and spoke to the gathered "In the name of the Ori you will guide them as they discover their Path. Those whom you find worthy send unto this city and we shall teach them as we have taught you, so that they may return and aid in your mission."
Then the Doci selected twelve of their most promising students and said unto them "You twelve are each of a different tribe and shall serve a special role. You will go out with your brothers and sisters gathered here and around you shall gather those of your tribe. Your tribes shall spread outward across the land and multiply and shall become great nations under the Ori.
The twelve listened to the Doci and turned to their gathered brothers and sisters within the high temple of Radcliffe and said unto them "So Say We All!" to which their people shouted "So Say We All! Hallowed are the Ori".
The Doci smiled and said unto them all "Go now and henceforth know that ye are Priors of the Ori and spread their word of the Path of Origin. Guide your tribes to find their Path of Origin that they too may know enlightenment for your kind are all Children of Origin. Blessed are they who walk the Path of Origin."
So those who had come to Radcliffe left the city and returned to their homelands; and the twelve that the Doci had selected gathered their tribes as commanded and became as kings of twelve great nations. These colonies of man grew prosperous and soon touched all the corners of the world and all knew the Ori and of the Path of Origin which the Ori, through their Doci, had revealed to them..
