Short Summary of the Radcliffe Story

Headquartered in the Reno/Sparks metropolitan area of Northern Nevada, the Church of Radcliffe was founded in June of 1998 to bring together members of the community who shared a common religious philosophy that emphasizes personal freedom in spiritual matters.  Since its inception, the Church of Radcliffe has expanded across the United States and even into Europe, spreading that philosophy.

The Church of Radcliffe is organized under the umbrella of the Universal Life Church and maintains a strict adherence to inter-faith cooperation and fellowship.   We are a Church for all religion and a Church of no-religion.   We have no true doctrine of faith, nor dogma to preach.  We uphold that there is no one-true-path to "the divine", save that path which each individual sets for themselves.

 The Radcliffian Experience

So then, you may be asking, what is the Church of Radcliffe all about?    Radcliffe has been described many ways by many people.   We promote the living of one's life, as one see's fit, for we consider freedom to be a most holy gift.    Whether religious or spiritual concerns enter this is entirely up to the individual.

One of our most favorite descriptions comes from our brothers and sisters in Copenhagan and defines the Church of Radcliffe Thusly:

Most Supreme and Holy Church of the Mysteries of Indulgence
Sacred Keeper of the Secrets of Manifest Pleasure

One of our co-founders described the Radcliffian Experience as "one of joy and staring down the double-barrel [shotgun] of life."

It has also been said that Radcliffe "puts the RAD back in Church."

We welcome everyone, no matter what walk of life you hail from.   We encourage all people to live their lives according to their own edicts.   We believe that one's religious experience is both sacred and (more importantly) personal.    Our clergy is there for those who need it.    The fellowship of our Church is there for those who need it.    Those who have no such need are under no obligation to us.   Everyone who encounters the Church of Radcliffe takes what they will from the experience.

We hold as true the belief that there is no one true path.   It is for you to decide which path is true for you.   We will offer guidance to those who seek it, but we will not pass judgment on your choices provided you respect the sovereign rights of your fellow Radcliffians.   You are free to believe, worship, venerate, experience life in any manner you see fit.    We only ask that you respect the rights of others to do the same.

Yes, the Church of Radcliffe is organized as a congregation of the Universal Life Church, but we put the emphasis on LIFE.   We expect you to live yours to the fullest of your ability.    Find that which brings you joy, and the Church will support you in your endeavors to achieve bliss.

Short Summary of the ULC Story

In existence since 1959, the Universal Life Church is headquartered in Modesto, California.   With congregations around the world, the sun never sets on the Universal Life Church. ULC ministers come from all walks of life and spiritual traditions and their common thread is the adherence to the universal doctrine:

"Do only that which is right."

Each of us has the inherent right and responsibility to peacefully determine what is "right", and so all beliefs and practices which do not interfere with the rights of others are embraced by the ULC, and by the Church of Radcliffe.   We are advocates of religious freedom.  It is our firm belief that you, the individual, should be free to pursue your spirituality without interference from any outside agency, including government and church authority.
